To play the virtual Lohman organ from Heusden you must have at least the following:
1st: To play the full version of this sample set without restrictions, you will need a modern, fast computer with at least 12 GB of RAM and, e.g., Windows 10 64 bit installed.
Obviously Hauptwerk must also be installed with at least version 5 Advanced.
It is said that the best results are achieved using Apple-MacIntosh computers; however, we have no experience with this.

The virtual organ Steendam Apeldoorn comes on a 32GB USB thumb drive. The set can also be downloaded.
The set is protected with the Hauptwerk Protection Sytem via the dongle that goes with your Hauptwerk program.

On other systems, these values may differ significantly!
Please note that your Operating System also requires a considerable amount of memory.

A = Front, Middle or Rear samples loaded (1 channel)

E = Combination samples loaded
F = compression applied
G = Bit rate pipe samples
H = Pipe samples sampling frequency (kHz)
I = Bit rate remaining samples

K = Multi release pipe samples
L = Multi release other samples
M = RAM usage, Operating System not included (GB)
N = Organ cache (GB)

It is possible to use the red part of the table, but we find that 14 bits provides insufficient quality.
The pink section is slightly better (16-bit), but still single release.
The yellow section represents the standard Hauptwerk loading mode: 16 bit, compressed and multi release.
The light-green area is for the loading mode: 16 bit, uncompressed and multi release.
The dark-green area is for the loading mode: 24-bit, compressed and multi release.
The blue area is for the maximum attainable loading mode: 24-bit, uncompressed multi release.
Of course there are many more variants, e.g., load the pipe samples in 24 bit and sounds in 16 bit, etc.

Two manuals or keyboards and a (possibly 30 note) pedal or, alternatively, a complete electronic organ with MIDI output.
Beautiful consoles, specifically for use with Hauptwerk, are also commercially available.
In the Netherlands, you can obtain these from, e.g. HSMuziek, The hobbyists among us can use electronics available from e.g., MGB to add MIDI to their keyboards.
4th: The amazing sound quality of Hauptwerk is best appreciated through very good headphones, e.g., AKG or Sennheiser. We prefer to connect the sound card to a (possibly multi-channel) sound system. The above mentioned companies, HSMuziek and Mixtuur, can also advise you on any purchases in this area. What you absolutely must not do is listen to Hauptwerk via the built-in monitor speakers of your computer or a set of computer speakers costing only 10 Euro!
